Have you come across that person who says, “I’m a fashion designer. I also sell cars on the side.” You find out that this person has a fish farm, processes visas for people considering emigrating to Canada, and has goals of setting up a legal practice someday.
By this time, you are wondering — what exactly does this person do?
First impressions go a long way in forming mindsets, and mindsets could remain stubbornly rooted, even when its premise is false. The first impression most people in my locality have of someone with seemingly disparate and unconnected leanings is that they are unserious. People automatically translate this ‘multiplicity’ to lack of depth and mastery. Many conclude that such a person is a hustler, and few people entrust anything of value to hustlers.
