I Had a Dream Last Night
And it was about you and I
I had a dream last night with eyes wide open.
In it, I saw a large water tank, painted black sat on a patch of dried grass. There was a red eagle mounted on top of it. On both sides of the tank there were two horses. They looked old and weary. From there eyes, I could see that they wanted reprieve, perhaps to sit and hydrate, but an unseen force kept them standing there — all eyes on the water tank.
There was a gurgling sounds coming from inside the tank that suggested that some type of liquid bubbled within it. The grassy patch on which it sat had been sun-burnt tallow. Camouflaged in its sparse undergrowth, was a jaded yellow sash with black inscriptions on it. I could barely make out the words printed on it. It said something like PEACE, AND something and FAITH and something. In the spaces taken up by the somethings, the letters had all but faded away. No matter how hard I squinted I could not read it. So, I let it pass.
The sky above was in high spirit and I could see the sun’s shine bounce off the large tank.
And then I saw a man with a hammer in his hand. He had a nail too. He put the nail up to one side of the water tank and struck it once with the hammer poking a hole on its side. A miserable puncture from which a thick black fluid began to flow…
