The 7-meal a week guide to becoming a Tech Unicorn
“Is it true what we hear Jack, that you eat just 7 meals in a week?”
“Yes” Jack Dorsey responded. “Lunch. Once a day.”
This comment from the co-founder of Twitter — a social networking app — would find its way into a popular tech blog and hundreds of other blogs and news sites around the world. And millions of people would read it. Debo, an aspiring tech developer in Lagos, Nigeria would be one of those people.
As it is with epiphanies of epic proportions, reading Jack’s response lit a lightbulb inside Debo’s head. There’d been many other questions Jack responded to in the interview, but the one that caught Debo’s attention was this one about his Spartan diet. As though woken from a deep slumber, Debo was convinced that if he could discipline himself to stick to a 7-meal-a-week diet, there was nothing he set his mind to that would be impossible. The more he thought about it, the clearer it became to him. He even made the connection between Jack’s meal plan and the ritual Moslem fastings that he underwent every year as a part of his religious obligations to his Moslem heritage. There was definitely a connection between avoidance of food and achieving great deeds.
