Matthew 25:29
For unto every one that hath shall be given, and he shall have abundance: but from him that hath not shall be taken even that which he hath.
You are seated facing the HR manager — a 30-something year old woman in a figure hugging dress and rimless spectacles, the kind that screams CORPORATE. She is glossing over your resume, uninterested. You can tell by the how quickly her eyes scan your entire life’s work in the reflection of her computer screen in her spectacles. She finally looks up and says, “You don’t have enough relevant experience for this job.”
There is a rather heavy emphasis on her use of the world relevant.
“I don’t understand …” you begin to say when she cuts you off.
“Most of your experience is in work that isn’t really connected to the job you are applying for. We are looking for someone who can hit the ground running. You know … someone that is familiar with working in this kind of environment …. ”
