It is Valentines’ Day again. The colours are red and white. The emphasis is on spending, social entropy and at a certain demographic, sex. The players are people reliving unforgettable memories of meaningful relationships and many others who are merely being manipulated. In a few hours, night will fall and a new morning will come again. For some, that new morning will never come.

What is the value of your every passing second?

Last year, I was caught in a web of existential contradictions after I lost a friend to the warm embrace of death. Everything stopped having meaning as I kept asking those questions many of us are familiar with, that start with ‘why’. When the burden of the uncertain threatened to crush me, I shut down and withdrew into a cocoon. I logged off Facebook for months and tuned out the noise of many other social ventures. I took time off from family and traveled to a faraway destination at the foot of snow-capped mountains that stared at their wavy reflections in cold, chilly rivers. I would sit at my hotel balcony and get lost in the white quietness of the early morning trying to make sense of the many things that confounded me, the things that eluded my consciousness.

I returned home with a sheet of paper on which I had written down 3 things. Those three things were things I had always wanted to do…
